Chapter 2 - Page 5

Saraina suddenly began to feel devastation creeping up on her. Not only about knowing her mother hadn't attended her graduation, but the knowledge that she was always doing something like this. Her work, her career, her looks, had always seemed to be more important than her only daughter. Once it became clear that she really wasn't there, Saraina didn't care to hide her feelings anymore and whipped around to face her dad, sighing loudly, "Come on. Let's just-"

From somewhere in the crowd, a thin arm covered by the sleeve of a dark green blazer shot up in the air and started to wave around. Both she and her dad stopped and stared.

"THERE she is. Finally…" Dad groaned.

Now, even knowing her mother was indeed there, Saraina was a little surprised that her immediate reaction wasn't to become elated. The feeling of disappointment still clung to her as both of them began walking quickly towards her mother.

Dad nearly shouted, "Where were you this whole time?! You missed the ceremony, Lisa!"
